If Sadie Were Here...

If Sadie Mae were here she would say sorry she hasn't been writing, she would say thanks for stopping by. She would say she is not in any more pain, and she would tell you that she is healthy and happy and eating snausages at the Rainbow Bridge.
If Sadie Mae were here she would say stop back again cuz her Mom has a few more Sadie stories that need telling - but she needs the water to stop coming from her face first.

I Have a Handle and Cats Taking Liberties

Hey everybody Happy New Year. Humpff. Not such a great new year here so far... but there were a few highlights... so the cats got a new bed...and they like it and that's a good thing...the more snuggling they do with each other the better for me...Gilly and Coche are BFFs...
I got to go home to Cincinnati with my Mom and we had excellent accomodations in our basement suite...I even got my own TV...I watched a lot of Law and Order marathons ...

The weather wasn't too bad...just chilly enough to need my Christmas scarf...

Lots of sunlight for good picture taking....

And some good times were had walking and sniffing...

And I even did some running...

But all good things come to an end and we came home to Chicago and it was cold...very cold...and that's when things started to go down hill...first Lucy took advantage of my personal warmth and space...I hate that...

And then my tail decided to droop and I kinda tripped once or twice getting into the car and it hurt...and then Mom took me to the Emergency V-E-T, because she says I only have accidents on Sundays whatever that means...and I was on pain meds again...and I refused to eat anything but chicken and rice...
But it gets worse...Mom found me a Handle and is making me wear it all the time...

And even though red is one of my colors...I do not like having a Handle...

I try to run away when Mom gets it out but she does not let me...she says she needs it to help me get in and out of the car and up our steep steps at home...so I am wearing this stupid Handle and guess what happens again....

Sometimes life is just not fair...
I think Buster Brown is laughing in this picture...in fact I am sure he is...I get no respect...Oh and I almost forgot...we've had a "foster" kitty in the house for a few months now...Farrah Lee - she was turned in to Animal Control for being Feral-y and they thought she belonged at my Mom's work but turns out it was a mistake and so for a few months she was hissy and spitty...and now look at her...kind of looks like she is making herself at home doesn't it? She had better not try to cuddle is all I have to say...This year is just getting better and better...

Things have to turn around soon right?

Good News for Christmas!

Hey Everybody - can you believe how lazy my Mom is? She can't even find time to post good news! And we have very good news...so I went to the V-E-T and had another belly picture and he said the lumpy is gone!! Can you believe it? Then they took my blood which I did not care for very much...here I am hiding behind my Mom's coat...

And then the V-E-T said "I am sorry you have to come back again tomorrow and get more blood taken cuz we think we mixed up yours with another retriever!" WHAT???? And so we did and the V-E-T called right away and said...we did not mix up your blood with another retriever...it was so much better than the last time we could not believe it was yours!!! Humpf.

So the good news is my liver is better and the lumpy is no where in sight...the bad news is I still cannot have people foods or most doggie treats...but Mom is working on finding me snacks that will make my liver happy...and she is taking suggestions...
All of us here are very thankful for our Christmas miracle and hope all of you have safe and lovely holidays! Thanks for checking in on us!
Susan and Sadie Mae....

Belly Pictures

Hey there everyone...long time no blog...so this is what has been going on in my corner of the world...Belly Pictures and more Belly Pictures!

So a few weeks ago Mom decided that I was acting awfully sleepy at work...well who woudn't?
Work is exhausting...I have to greet volunteers and accept treats and love and go for walks...I mean you would be sleepy too...

But Mom thought it was time for a visit to the V-E-T...I do not like to visit the V-E-T...so I keep one eye on the door at all times...

I also try to keep large objects between me and whoever else is in the room...and keep smiling so they will not cut my toenails. Well I was lucky this time no toenail cutting! They just took some of my blood - but apparently they did not like my blood, cuz they made me come back for an "inside" Belly Picture!

Mom sometimes takes pictures of my belly - she thinks it is very pretty. This is my beautiful belly before the V-E-T took the "inside" Belly Picture...

And this is my belly after they took the "inside" Belly Picture!...I tried to tell them the pretty furs on the belly makes a nicer picture but they did not listen to me...

And then Mom would not stop taking pictures of my belly...here I am at work trying to get some napping done and there she is talking about my cute shaved belly and telling people to touch it...

I had to finally put a stop to these indignities by keeping my belly covered up! So the V-E-T said the picture of my belly showed a lump in my gallbladder whatever that is and he thought by taking medicines the lump would go away...since my medicines come with kitten food I thought that was okay...but then I found out that the only foodies I would be getting would be special food for a good livers and no people foodies! What?!!!

This is me hoping for just a bit of the popcorn Mom was eating...just a little bit couldn't hurt and we wouldn't have to tell the V-E-T right? Oh, yeah that's Gilead...he is the trouble maker of the family can you tell?

Mom please don't let Gilead have the popcoprn that was meant for me...please???

So tomorrow we have to go back the the V-E-T, it has been three weeks and they are going to take another "inside" Belly Picture and hopefully that lumpy will have gone away...then maybe I can have some popcorn??? Please? Wish me luck! Love, Sadie Mae

**From Sadie's Mom - second ultra sound tomorrow fingers crossed the mass in her gallbladder has dissolved or at least gotten smaller - if not we may have to have surgery...anyone been thru gallbladder surgery before? Postive thoughts and prayers would be much appreciated. Thanks! Susan

I Wins for Cuteness!

Hey everybody - sorry my Mom is too busy to post - but I made her today - cause I wins for cuteness! I entered a Halloween Costume Contest over at my good friend Daisydog's place http://www.daisydog.wordpress.com/ and my good friend handsome Dozer the best judge ever picked me for cuteness!!!!!!!!!
I never won a cuteness contest before - I mean all of Mom's friends and co-workers think I'm cute and my great niece Katie Mae thinks I'm cute and of course Grandma thinks I'm the cutest of the granddogs...but now the whole world thinks I'm cute!!!!!!!

When I first tried on my Cowgurl outfit I admit I was skeptical...does this hat make my head look big?

At first I thought Cowgurls had to be sad like in the cowgurl songs...Mommas don't let your babies grow up to be cowgurls...

And then I realized that red is one of my colors and I look pretty good in this neckerchief...then Mom broke out the cookies...mmmm Scoobey Snacks - my favorite cowgurl snack....

Then I just let myself go and had some fun just like they do on America's next top model...

This is my high fashion look...it must have worked cuz I wins for cuteness!!! I want to thank the judges, I mean Dozer the most handsomest dog in the world and Daisydog for allowing me to enter the contest and all of my fellow contestants - it was an honor to be in your midst...and thanks to all of the people who have allowed me to be cute all of these years...Scoobey snacks for everyone!

We Interrupt this Blog for: WALLACE!!!

Hey everybody! This blog entry was suppossed to be about me and what I did on my birthday...
note the birthday scarf...
I was gonna tell you about all of the delicious birthday treats I enjoyed last week....but instead Mom is gonna tell you about an adventure she had without me...with some celebrity dog named Wallace the Pit Bull...humpf....see you next week I guess...

This Is Wallace the Pit Bull and his Dad Roo Yori...together they make up an awesome fly disc team with many trophies and titles....on Sunday they were in Naperville for the Ashley Whippet International Fly Disc World Championship and I got to be a groupie!

A few things you should know...Wallace is a Pit Bull who once was homeless, slated to be euthanised and then found, fostered and later adopted by his Dad who then figured out that Wallace has a thing about frisbees!
And Wallace LOVES his Dad - and is usually looking at him adoringly...

Wallace likes the simple things in life...a good grass rub...

Laughing, meeting and giving kisses to new people....he is a very good ambassador for his breed and very comfortable with the life of a celebrity...

Did I mention he LOVES hanging with his Dad?

On competition days Wallace hangs out in his own trailer - complete with his own fans attached ...and his own "Pit Crew"...that's actually his Grandad checking to see if he has everything he needs...

Wallace is a big help. Here is is helping his Dad organize all the discs they will use for the freestyle competition...

Wallace's favorite time is SHOWTIME! Here he is with his Dad getting the crowd revved up.

Once the game starts he is totally focused on his Dad...I have seen the videos but in person it was awesome the way they work together...it is very much like a dance they do choreographed to music...with amazing athletic feats....

Afterwards there is refreshment and lots of praise for a job well done!

Wallace feeling pretty proud of himself!!

A private talk between teammates...Roo admitted to Wallace that a few of those throws could have been better but Wallace forgave him right on the spot...he understands there is a lot of pressure out there.
Aww the life of a disc dog...nothing like it!

Wallace had a good feeling about the day while they waited for the scores to be tallied.

Finally the announcement... Wallace won Second Place!

Awesome trophy to add to Wallace's collection.
For those of you not familiar with Wallace the Pit Bull please go to his website http://www.pitbullunited.com/wallacethepitbull/and watch his videos - "You Can't Bring Me Down" is my favorite. Then go to his blog Pit Bull United:
a former Vick dog now a certified therapy dog.
Thanks Wallace for an awesome day!

Oh, and for those of you who need a Peony fix here is what she has been up to at my house - thank goodness Gilly doesn't mind babysitting...
just a few more days and she will be at the Adoption Center.
Unitl next time! Thanks for stopping by!
